This project started as a shot in the dark. It was 2024 and I was still in California working as a freelancer. I had gotten back from a few years of on and off backpacking and had been thinking more about the type of work I wanted to create as a filmmaker. That ultimately led to the idea of creating films ‘for a better tomorrow’ or at least work that made me feel hopeful. I didn’t really know what that looked like at the time (I still don’t really know) but I knew this was the general direction I wanted to go. I posted a video on social media, sending out a ‘signal’ if you will, for anyone else who was also interested in working on a project like this…and ended up meeting Cheryl because of this post.
